Let me know what you think about this.
unknown photographer
Do you think there is a market for a small kit car in the style of a 1920s racer?
It would be a single seater, using motorcycle wheels + tires, a 20 or 30 HP engine and hopefully roughly the same power-to-weight ratio of a first-gen Miata.
It would be marketed towards a clientele that would pay in the area of $10K for one, and would be able to put it together themselves.
I’m not entirely serious with this but your opinion will let my fantasy progress and keep me entertained for the next while. ;)
Thanks all in advance

Sounds awesome!

seems kinda like a one-off. But there could be a market. If there’s a market for powered scaffolding X-BOW and three-wheeled Morgan’s then there might be for this, but the market could be an aged crowd that could be expiring.

It sounds cool.

Yes! But, I’m a bit touched in the head so.
A truly affordable series is due. That sounds like fun.
(That’s part of my reasoning for going back to MotoX. Well, Vintage MotoX. I’m all in and ready for a Hare Scramble or Flat Track for $1500-$2000.)

You mean what flat-head midget racing used to be?

Pretty similar, yeah. I was thinking of a more low-slung body (and honestly it would probably be even simpler than a midget racer)

Aren’t we all.
The idea here is it would be a little machine whose focus is being fun to drive.
Vintage motocross sounds awesome. Got any pics of yours?

Interesting. My version was smaller and less sophisticated, but yeah, I guess that’s not too far off.
And I was honestly wondering about the Miata/brown wagon crowd. I don’t know if $10K is more than they’d pay for a toy or not.

THAT is a cool photo!

I want a kit of this

I’m going 1980s 3 wheelers. I’ve put a few pics up.
I’d give up Trikes for a 1980 Maico 501 in a heartbeat though.
It was a brute. Not really a good handler and not really a good jumper. But damn, on the straights it cooked!

Make that a little smaller and you basically have my idea.

That trike looks awesome and far too dangerous for me to be in its presence.

Trikes never hurt anyone that didn’t deserve what they got.
Respect the machine!

I like the idea!
Don’t know how many loons there are out there like me, but I like it.

A scaled-up Cyclekart?

Exactly.

If you could legalize it for the road. Maybe have it registered as a motorcycle I’d be all for it.
